I decided to team up once more with the lovely Olivia of Blue Merle Artistry on a floral crown concept that I'd been wanting to try. I created my own flower crown using left over silk flowers from my wedding in June. Olivia and I strolled through the fields and woodlands of Nose Hill Park in fairly flat lighting conditions. It seemed that golden hour had escaped us! However, right at the end of our shoot, we were surprised and spoiled with a beautiful, glowing sunset. The sun beams radiated over the hill, and the whole sky was alive with colour. Olivia knew just the right angles and camera hacks to capture the light perfectly, and I think it is safe to say that the end result speaks for itself.
After a busy time modelling at the Camp Collective at Baker Creek Mountain resort the day before, I returned to Calgary with the plan to relax. But when Brenrich invited me for a golden hour shoot at Fish Creek, it was too tempting to say no! During the shoot, we decided it would be a nice effect to walk and balance along the fallen tree close by. So I climbed on and began posing. However, during my stroll I couldn't help but become distracted by a strange tapping noise above my head. A woodpecker was busily pecking away for its dinner, and I was so transfixed that I almost fell off the log! In the end, I jumped off anyway. It definitely gave us a good chuckle.
When I was chosen to model for The Camp Collective Rockies 2017 edition at Baker Creek Mountain Resort, I had to pinch myself. You mean I get to spend the afternoon with a group of talented photographers in the Rocky Mountains? Ok! Fellow models Celeste and Dana accompanied me on our road trip west towards Lake Louise, where we joined the fourth model, Mikayla. Once we arrived at the beautiful mountain lodge, we were greeted by photographers Cole Hofstra and Emilie Iggiotti. The afternoon began with a challenge - telling a story through photography using a quote from a book. Cole immediately took three of us into the forest and began creating multiple exposure shots. We were joined by a curious coyote, who briefly observed us before disappearing once again. Next up, groups of photographers took the models into the forest and practised portrait techniques. The evening was concluded with some colourful smoke bombs beside the river, and the chill of the evening air began to set in. I stayed overnight in Banff and awoke to a beautiful sunrise, making the mountains glow!
